As a Mom of two toddlers I'm raising (at least!) bilingual, but hopefully fluent in several languages- I know first-hand the struggles involved in teaching a second language to young children.  This is particularly hard, if you, like me, are the only person in your household who speaks the second language.  I also know many parents who only speak English, but know the importance and benefits of raising bilingual children, so are attempting it- DESPITE not knowing a second language fluently themselves!  The thing is, teaching (and learning) a second language shouldn't be hard, it should be fun. 

When my kids were born, I struggled to find fun materials and resources to support me in teaching them a second language.  I couldn't find a complete selection of Spanish children's books (my heritage) or Polish children's books (my husband's).  I wanted to share my knowledge and love of French and German with my children through books, toys and games.  It took time and energy to track down the perfect support materials- like books, toys, dolls and games.  Selections were limited and hard to find at all.  That's why I started SmartMouthLearning.com:  it is my wish to make sharing a second language with children easier and fun for parents and kids alike.
