As a Mom of two toddlers I'm raising (at least!) bilingual, but hopefully fluent in several languages- I know first-hand the struggles involved in teaching a second language to young children. This is particularly hard, if you, like me, are the only person in your household who speaks the second language. I also know many parents who only speak English, but know the importance and benefits of raising bilingual children, so are attempting it- DESPITE not knowing a second language fluently themselves! The thing is, teaching (and learning) a second language shouldn't be hard, it should be fun. When my kids were born, I struggled to find fun materials and resources to support me in teaching them a second language. It took time and energy to track down the perfect support materials- like books and games. Selections were limited and hard to find at all. That's why I started SmartMouthLearning.com: it is my wish to make sharing a second language with children easier and fun for parents and kids alike.
